These capabilities are available today for Word on the Mac for Office Insiders (Fast) as a preview. You will be able to pick from the results and insert content from another document with a single click. In the next few months, Word will use Microsoft Search to suggest content for a to-do like >. Over time, Office will use AI to help fill in many of these placeholders. Soon, they’ll be able to reply to the notification with their contributions, and those contributions will be inserted directly into the document-making it easy to complete the task with an email from any device. Word sends them a notification with a “deep link” to the relevant place in the document. If you need help from a friend or coworker, just them within a placeholder. Once you’ve created your to-dos, Word can also help you complete them. When you come back to the document, you’ll see a list of your remaining to-dos, and you can click each one to navigate back to the right spot. For example, type TODO: finish this section or > and Word recognizes and tracks them as to-dos. Today, we’re starting to roll out new capabilities to Word that help users create and fill in these placeholders without leaving the flow of their work. When this happens, you likely do what research tells us many Word users do: leave a placeholder in your document and come back to it later to stay in your flow. But at some point in the writing process, you’ll need some information you don’t have at your fingertips, even with the best tools. Technologies like Editor-Word’s AI-powered writing assistant-make it an indispensable tool for the written word. Microsoft Word has long been the standard for creating professional-quality documents. And nowhere is that truer than when writing. When you’re faced with distractions and interruptions, progress is slow and painful. When you’re in your flow, your creativity takes over, and your work is effortless. Now the birds are out, the sun shines, and I feel like a better human being.Focus is a simple but powerful thing. If I have to use Photoshop or Lightroom for some reason, will have to do a quick file cleanup afterwards - like cleaning up after your dog. Adobe apparently is not yet fully compatible with Catalina and just messes everything up in the background. The Verifying App dialog now takes 2-3 minutes instead of an hour, Office 365 launches in 20 seconds, all three browsers launch in seconds as well. Removed all the Adobe and Creative Cloud processes that were running in the background and prevented them from launching at login in the first place by deleting all Adobe launchers in HD/Library/LaunchDaemons, HD/Library/LaunchAgents and usr/Library/LaunchAgents. This improved things somewhat, but it was still not performing as expected. Made sure that there were no unneeded Login Items under the User and Group preferences (which in my case were none).Ĭhanged the DNS servers in my WiFi connection to Cloudflare's faster ones (1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1 and their IPv6 equivalents). Turned off Notifications for all the things that I didn't care to know about in real time. Removed most of the extensions that I wasn't using anyway, almost 90% of them. Turned off font smoothing and dynamic desktop.
It wasn't a matter of CPU or Memory usage, which were all well within the green. Started in Safe Mode, suddenly everything worked, like a gazelle compared to a Soviet agricultural tractor of the 1950s. The age of Terminator ain't not quite here yet.

Wanted to throw the thing out of the window but, being stubborn, decided that no machine and some crappy software were going to beat me. Performance was slow and buggy across the board. Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Lightroom, a nightmare. Chrome, Firefox, Safari were crashing continuously. Nothing worked, Office 365 took 3-4 attempts to launch and only did so after 10 minutes.

After update to Catalina 10.15.1, the thing was turning into a brick.
